Google Gemini Live new update will now support Hindi and 8 more languages, as mentioned by Senior Director Hema Budaraju in Google’s annual India-focused event, held on Thursday in New Delhi.
Several new features and services were introduced in the event including- new capabilities of its artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, Gemini. Last month, two-way verbal communication feature dubbed Gemini Live was rolled out by the company and now it’s being updated and Google Gemini Live ready to support Hindi and 8 other Indian languages.
Hindi and Regional Language Support by Google Gemini Live
Now, Google’s AI-powered feature, developed by DeepMind, allow users to communicate with the chatbot in their natural language and ask any queries verbally to it and it responds to them similarly.
This AI-powered feature was first rolled out to Gemini Advanced subscribers, in the month of August, and now it is available for users on the free tier of Gemini on Android devices.

With Hindi language, the other 8 languages which will be supported by Google Gemini are- Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, and Urdu. Now users can take full benefit of this new feature of Gemini by having real-time conversation in their native language and generate verbal responses in same language.
Also, all the generative tasks of the text-based chatbot can be performed by Gemini Live so users don’t need to provide the whole text every time, instead they can easily ask follow-up questions, they will have conversation just like with another human. But there is one negative point of Gemini is that it lacks in contextual voice modulation and the capability of expressing emotions like ChatGPT’s Advanced Voice Mode.
Users can open Gemini app or activate the Gemini assistant in their Android smartphone to use Gemini Live. Next to the text field, there will be a new waveform icon and after tapping it, full-screen interface will open. Users then ask queries and get response, and by tapping- Hold and End call, users can stop the conversation.
