Google’s AI flood forecasting model is now expanding its coverage to 100 countries which will help over 700 million people from high-risk of flood.
Earlier it was available in 80 countries only benefiting over 460 million people who live in high-risk areas.
As the company have been working in this area since so long to detect and warn people about natural disasters including earthquakes, fires, and floods. But now, Google uses its AI potential to work in this field, and Google with the help of AI has brought a big upgrade in its flood early warning models that will now make early flood detection easier for researchers, first-responders, and residents of affected locations.

How AI flood forecasting model of Google works?
AI-powered flood forecasting model of Google will help people living in an area covered by Flood Hub by sending important information to avoid potential flooding up to seven days in advance through Flood Hub itself, Google Search, and Google Maps.
With the help of this, people who live in a flood zone will get seven day lead time which will help them to plan ahead that where they have to go, when they have to go, and to think about multiple of aids that are needed.
Also, Google will provide basic information and recommended actions to users like- Avoiding certain areas, reports of road closure, etc. through Google Maps to provide accurate information to users.
Google’s AI model is getting better day be day and achieving new growths. It has been announced by Google that an API will be made available for researchers and first responders which will help them to predict future incidents with more accuracy based on live data from areas with hardware monitoring, and even areas that lack that infrastructure with the help of historical data.
