Much anticipated interview to be conducted on X platform between X owner Elon Musk and former US president Donald Trump was attacked by malicious attack called “DDOS attack”. Let’s see what is DDOS attack?

    What-is-DDOS-Attack

The Elon Musk’s interview of Donald Trump was expected to be livestream on X scheduled at 8PM EST(5:30AM India time) for 8 million users was delayed because it was attacked by DDOS causing the Platform X to shut it down and also lead to limit the live listeners which was earlier considered to be 8 million. The  X owner Elon Musk confirmed it by the post on X stating that- There appears to be a massive DDOS attack on X.

    What is DDOS attack?

A DDOS or Distributed Denial of Service attack is a malicious attack, use to disrupt the targeted server or its surrounding infrastructure with a flood of Internet traffic resulting in poor website functionality.

    How DDOS attack works?

DDOS is described as “a distributed denial of service” attack by an IT service management firm named ‘CloudFlare’, a malicious attack by which various compromised computer systems are used to generate million of fake traffics to target other server, systems or networks. By this, hackers get control over other systems, server with the help of compromised systems.

Due to fake traffic, legitimate users are pushed out, making the service delayed or disrupted for a length of time. There are possibilities that hackers could also access sensitive information by infiltrating database during attack.

Measures to be used to prevent DDOS attack?

Microsoft suggested an action plan to prevent such attack is that- A denial-of-service defence service  can be developed in order to prevent or reduce the attack.

A gap of identity should be identified to tackle this type of attack, and updating any protection software or technology is also important to make sure it is working properly or not.
