    Android 15 QPR1 Beta 3 is live: Read here what’s new and eligible devices

    Android 15 QPR1 Beta 3 is live now as a quarterly platform release (QPR) beta and is rolling out to Pixel devices.

    When any major OS update launched by the company, it operates on a quarterly release schedule. As major OS update, Android 15, has been launched by the Google, it will follow up that release with a QPR1, QPR2, and QPR3 update. And, it will launch multiple beta versions before moving to the next QPR.

    Which devices are eligible for Android 15 QPR1 Beta 3 ?

    The devices which are eligible to get Android 15 QPR1 Beta 3 are-

    • Pixel 6
    • Pixel 6 Pro
    • Pixel 6a
    • Pixel 7
    • Pixel 7 Pro
    • Pixel 7a
    • Pixel 8
    • Pixel 8 Pro
    • Pixel 8a
    • Pixel 9
    • Pixel 9 Pro
    • Pixel 9 Pro XL
    • Pixel 9 Pro Fold
    • Pixel Fold
    • Pixel Tablet

    What’s new in Android 15 QPR1 Beta 3?

    Third beta has been released to come out for QPR1 by Google. According to the release notes, a variety of known issues has been fixed by this new beta. Theses fixes includes-

    Developer- and user-reported issues

    • An issue causes notifications to be displayed sometimes with content that was cut off has been fixed.
    • An issue fixed with system memory paging causing devices to crash and restart sometimes.
    • An issue in which volume buttons didn’t work when connected to certain Bluetooth devices has been fixed.
    • An issue fixed where some app icons on the home screen were displaying the default system icon instead of the app’s icon.
    • An issue that caused a device to run slowly and sometimes crash when switching back to the primary user from the secondary user has been fixed.
    • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the system UI to crash.
    • An issue of foldable devices has been fixed where the screen sometimes went blank when unfolding the device.

    Other resolved issues:

    • An issue has been fixed that sometimes caused the system to crash while taking a bug report.
    • an issue that sometimes prevented users from interacting with heads-up notifications has been fixed.
    • Various other issues that were impacting system stability, connectivity, and interactivity has also been fixed.

    Resolved issues related to Bluetooth:

    •  LE Audio volume control has been improved by enabling independent adjustment of each connected sink’s volume using the UI and limiting volume key adjustments to the primary sink.
    • A crash has been fixed in BluetoothDevice.getType( ) that occurred primarily in the testing environment when Bluetooth resources were reused between virtual device instances.

    Some of the other updates that can be seen in Android 15 QPR1 Beta 3 are-

    Pixel 9: Thicker status bar

    With Android 15 QPR1 Beta 3, the height on the status bar everywhere has been increased by Google.

    There is a large front-facing camera cutout on Pixel 9 Pro, and the status bar has been made taller by new beta update to account for that.

    Themed icon tweaks:

    Themed icons have a lighter background in a dark theme. And the actual icon at the center is lighter in light theme.
