OxygenOS 15 is unveiled by the company OnePlus which is powered by Android 15 with new features and AI upgrades and first open beta date is released for OnePlus 12 series.
OxygenOS 15 new features and upgrades:
Some of the main upgrades oxygenos 15 will bring are-
- Performance upgrade– Parallel Processing
- Design upgdaes– New Shelf Cards and Redesigned Icons
- AI upgrades and new features– AI upgrades will include AI features in the Gallery and Notes app, and AI Toolbox will be powered by Intelligent Search and AI Reply.
- Google upgrades to OnePlus devices: Circle to Search and Pass Scan features will be introduced to OnePlus devices.
- Performance upgrades:
- Parallel processing provides a comprehensive coverage of interruption animations which helps in a seamless transition between apps. This parallel processing will be launched for OnePlus through OxygenOS 15
- Two animations are expected- (i)app return to its icon on the home screen by sliding lightly. (ii) parabolic exit animation with a forceful slide.
- Design upgrades:
- There will be new Shelf Cards with half tone color and expanded size like 1×2, 2×2,2×4, and 4×4.
- There will be “shimmering” effects to interfaces for charging, app installations, and unlocking.
- For more customization, “Depth” feature to customize lock screen wallpapers, and some new pre-packaged themes in the form of “Flex Themes.”
- The Gaussian blur effect will be there in the Control and Notification Centers.
- Fluid cloud of OnePlus will now support more apps. ”Live Alerts” feature like an extension of iOS’s Dynamic Island in OnePlus, in which area around front camera will be converted camera into a small capsule that can be expanded into a larger card.
- AI upgrades
- OxygenOS 15 will add new AI features to OnePlus that includes- AI Unblur, AI Reflection Eraser, and AI Detail Boost.
- AI will be added to the OnePlus Notes app as well, which helps in automatically organize your notes, highlight important points, even summarize notes, clean up filler words, and even convert a voice recording into transcript.
- Also, there will be an Intelligent Search which will interpret the query, looks up the answer in your files and apps, and presents an AI answer back to you.
- AI Toolbox with AI reply that will be handled through cloud, can be accessed through side bar, will be able to generate contextually relevant AI replies of the conversation on apps like- whatsapp, Instagram, snapchat.
- New features:
- Open Canvas will be expanded to foldables and tablets, helps in facilitating multi-window multitasking without compromising on the size of the multi-window.
- An in-built file-sharing option for OnePlus users to share files with iPhone users, only need is to download the O+ Connect app on iPhones for this to work.
- Google upgrades to OnePlus devices:
- Circle to Search feature, Pass Scan within Google Wallet, Google Gemini as the default assistant, Android’s Theft Detection feature, and Google Play Protect Live Threat Detection, all these Google upgrades will be available in OnePlus through OxygenOS 15.
OxygenOS 15 rollout and timeline
On October 30, 2024 First open beta of OxygenOS 15 will be available on the OnePlus 12 series. The company has not announced the timeline for the stable release yet, as the company will release the stable version after all feedbacks during beta testing.
